Optimisation of grinding process of titanium alloy using cryogenic cooling by liquid nitrogen

Today, construction equipment commonly used in the aerospace industry Super alloys such as titanium are used. Titanium alloys having high strength to weight ratio, corrosion resistance, resistance to fatigue crack growth and high operating temperatures without creeping, widely used in various parts of the aircraft. However, due to the low thermal conductivity of the alloy enabled the difficulties in machining and grinding this alloy is. Some of these problems can burn surface micro cracks and surface oxidation noted. In this paper, the super cooled cooling to improve the capability of grinding titanium alloy is used. Cooled with liquid nitrogen cooling of the jets used a grinding zone temperature control in the range of injuries kept very low and significantly reduces the above. In this paper, using experimental design parameters are cutting speed, feed rate and depth of cut and also cool (liquid nitrogen and water solution - soap) as input parameters to achieve optimum grinding conditions are optimal outcome.
